As a pre-dad guy, I'm very active and definitely work to live, with quite a young approach to life (never really accepted turning 30 and so as far as I'm concerned, I've never aged beyond 29). Brought up in Devon, I've always been a coastal/water/river guy (with a strange fear of what lurks beneath the water). Played pretty much every sport going until my late teens - several at a County / competitive level - and then when I could drive started surfing. Surfing and martial arts were my main thing until falling for L and we moved in together. Pretty swiftly life took us away from Devon and we found ourselves in the middle of the Country, with a definite lack of coast and surf. In an attempt to remain sane, I took up a variety of different sports and several years later I find myself the multi-sport athlete I was as a kid! I still surf but wakeboarding is the main focus of my lack of skill. I mountainbike, occasionally road cycle (I don't own lycra and so happy to say I'm not a MAMIL), complete sprint and the odd Olympic triathlon. Train at the gym (weights & cardio) and even though at 13 stone (ish) I'm not built for running, I will run 1/2 marathons and if in need of a proper challenge, the ultra-marathon or two (I have another 100km race next weekend).
I am a grown-up and as such do have a job (sadly I need one to pay for the stuff that keeps me sane). I'm what you might call 'normal intelligence'. I went to Uni and have a degree in Law and Economics, a HND in Business and Finance and a splattering of A-levels and usual GCSEs. I even have a PGCE!
L is my better half (aka Wife) and as I type this post, she is 32 weeks pregnant with our little boy. As I said at the start of this update, things haven't been easy for the last decade or so but together we create quite a team - our only real weakness would be our tendency to hide in our own 'bubble' when things are challenging. Even though it's only been us for the last 14 years, we do have 2 dogs to keep us company. Tilly has been with us for almost 12 years (a rescue Sprollie) and 2 years ago we acquired Ted (a posh mongrel - Cavachon). Together we make quite a formidable team and so with another member joining our clan in July I feel we'll be unstoppable.
So, I think that'll do for an introduction, I'll sign off now, as I need to get motivated and hit the gym for a hour or so before sorting some food out for me and L.
